INPATIENT MENTAL HEALTH

Programming and Services

Currently, I am the unit social worker on the rural inpatient mental health department at SSRH.

Most patients admitted to the IPMHU are acutely ill.  Although their improvements are eventually nothing short of inspirational, their journey there needs support and consistency.

I have the honor of working 1 on 1 with patients, but also with their families, workplaces, government support agencies and communities.

I also have the pleasure of first researching, then creating, and implementing daily programming to patients as an entire group.

Patients on our unit are all in various stages of their healing journey. Teaching a wide variety of disAbilities has been a wonderful learning opportunity for me. I use presentations as a 'backdrop' to teaching. We have a 2 week rotating cycle, but this is fluid and flexible, two key concepts on an IPMHU.

Teaching self care and psychosocial skills via daily gatherings as been a powerful and impactful implementation.

Please feel free to reach out for any of the programming I have created, I am always happy to share my resources!
