CHILDREN, ADOLESCENTS AND FAMILIES

In home and clinical settings

Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to work with some of the most amazing, strong, and resilient families.

I often worked inside family homes, as well as inside their community, like their daycares and schools. This work was highly impactful for families.

I worked closely with a wide range of families with a wide range of cultures, disAbilities, racial challenges.

Many lived by opposing societal ethics and beliefs. There was always middle ground to be found.

For 15 years of my career so far (2002-2017) I worked with children, adolescents and parents, in their homes, schools and communities.

I worked closely with many community interagencies, including DCS-disability support, income assistance, child protection. I worked with and inside school systems.

I collaborated regularly with indigenous services, housing,  justice, corrections, police, etc., as well as many non-profit agencies.

Family members are much more open in their own homes.

Trauma was often identified. Opportunities to teach families how trauma impacts the brain, therefore our day to day functioning. Powerful work.

Co-created, tailor made programming for entire families was often deeply meaningful, and created sustainable change for all involved. This is an empowering approach, and gives voice to all involved along the way.

Meeting families on their terms allowed me to begin to understand their separate perspectives.

Families each set their own goals, not the goals I or anyone else thought they should have.

I have created many programs for children, adolescents and families over the last 22 years. I am happy to share my work, so ask anytime!
