Individual & Couples Therapy

For over two decades, I have been providing mental health counselling and therapy to individuals. I have worked 1 on 1 with people from all walks of life, across the lifespan. I have done 1 on 1 work in primary care & private practice, & currently as a clinical therapist with Mental Health and Addictions. In my individual work, I have also done a lot of work with couples. I meet people where they are with a down to earth, compassionate and open approach. I use a lot of interactive, homemade visual tools in my work. I use these to explain vital but difficult to explain concepts. I have "Tangi Tools" for everything from the brain & trauma, cannabis impacts on the CNS and spirituality, all the way to perspective taking, owning your role, attachment and many more fascinating topics. I have received a lot of positive feedback from my clients over the years, which continues to inspire me to keep learning and creating meaningful theraputic interventions, backed by leading practices and gold standard research.

My Story

You might say I took the long route. My mom always used to tell me I liked to do things the hard way, so this makes sense I guess! Haha! Seriously, how I became a mental health clinician was a long journey, but the experiences I had along the way has helped me become the therapist I am today. In the beginning, I had no idea I what the rest of my career looked like. All I knew was that I was equipped my with BA (double major in criminology and sociology) and a true desire to help others. I first went down the correctional services  route, however it was rigid, harsh and not for me. Next I worked for community services, a job where I learned a lot but could not contribute in the way I wanted to. When I accepted a job as a community support services worker (CSS) worker with mental health and addictions services in 2002, I knew I found my people. I found where I belonged. For 15 years I worked in people's homes, schools, daycares and work places. I worked in collaboration with masters trained therapists on a regular basis in my role. It was during this work that I knew my next step was to become a therapist. As a single mom however, that was not going to be so simple. It took me 15 years of CSS work, but I finally got my BSW in 2014. Those were some of the most difficult years of my life because my mom was diagnosed with cancer in 2012, and she died very close to my graduation in 2014. It was devastating, but I stuck to it, gave it my all and completed by BSW with honors, all in honor of her.  In 2020, after working in the field for 6 years, where I worked on the inpatient mental health unit, continuing care and primary care. I gained a wealth of knowledge and understanding of systems with these roles, and knew my next step was to finally become the therapist I already was. I applied to my MSW, and completed it with honors in 2025. I was fortunate to work in a private practice during my practicum, allowing me to expand my knowledge base even further. Since that time, I have been working as a clinical therapist with mental health and addictions services working with individuals on the adult mental health clinical team.
